Good Afternoon Everyone,
I hope this letter finds everyone safe and healthy. I would like to share a decision from the Executive Board regarding the 2020 Summer Vendor Conference. With Governor Abbott’s decision to cancel the remaining school year, we all know that school districts and school bus vendors will reevaluate travel for employees and budgetary restraints. The Executive Board discussed options and concluded that the organizations only recourse was to cancel the summer vendor conference in Georgetown. This decision was not an easy one to make, but the board felt it was the right thing to do considering all factors involved.
We also canceled the Texas Best contest and will reconvene to discuss the best options to reschedule or move the event to next summer’s conference.
We were able to negotiate with The Sheraton in Georgetown and secure the facility at no additional costs for the summer of 2021. The dates for the 2021 TASBT Summer Vendor Conference is July 21 to 25, 2021. The conference will be held in Georgetown, Texas. We will post details on the TASBT website at a later date.
There are other items that TASBT will need to address. We will need to nominate and vote on the positions of Treasurer, Historian, and President-Elect. The plan to accomplish this task is outlined below:
Step one: Executive Secretary will send out a mass email requesting nominations. This will remain open until May 22nd.
Step two: Executive Secretary will send out a mass email listing the candidates with a short bio. The members will vote by sending a return email listing their selection to the Executive Secretary. Voting will remain open until June 19th.
Step three: Executive secretary will send out a mass email announcing the new officers.

Although the conference will not go on as planned, the goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy and be frugal with the organizations finances.
TASBT is a great organization and is committed to its members and working diligently to provide the best technical training possible.
The COVID 19 pandemic will pass and life will return to normal soon. This will allow TASBT to evaluate participation at regional conferences that hopefully will go on as scheduled. Please take precautionary measures and stay safe for your family’s sake.
